“The world must conform to Our Divine Lord, not He to it”
Father Denis Fahey, C.S.Sp., B.A., Ph.D., D.D.
The Mystical Body of Christ in the Modern World
St. Joseph Forum announces “Project Awaken.” It is our belief that the restoration of the Church will begin only when a sufficient number of priests and bishops return to Catholic orthodoxy, and we know of no other writings which are more likely to bring this about than those of Fr. Denis Fahey (1883-1954), priest of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. We do not hesitate to say that if the English-speaking clergy at the Second Vatican Council had read Fr. Fahey, the Naturalistic Revolution which was set in motion there would never have occurred. We may say further that both the Conciliar decrees and their implementation, which have brought such tragic ravages upon the Church and its children, find their antidote in the pages of Fr. Fahey’s books, particularly The Mystical Body of Christ in the Modern World (1953), which is his seminal work.
In the forward of this work, Fr. Fahey writes: “From the Encyclicals of the popes and the teaching of St. Thomas, I have endeavoured to show that men must take sides for or against the Supernatural Messias [Who is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ] and that, if they do not accept Him fully, they are drawn into the army that is working, consciously or unconsciously, to prepare the advent of the natural Messias. They thus inevitably come under the leadership of the Jews, who wield such enormous power in the modern world through the subjection of man to production and of production to finance.
“...This book is not meant merely to open the eyes of Catholics to the realities of life. It is intended also to stir them to take their part in the struggle by a full-hearted acceptance of Christ Crucified. To work for the salvation of the world with Christ, one must begin with oneself. Love and true charity rapidly disappear from the world in which man rejects Christ and declares himself God. If we wish to bring the love of God into the world, we must unite ourselves with the Blessed Trinity present in us by grace and seek to love the Three Divine Persons with our whole soul. Then we shall love our neighbour as he should be loved, namely, as a fellow-member of our Lord’s Mystical Body.”
The power of Fr. Fahey’s writings is to be found in his perfect grasp of the modern world and the visible and invisible forces which are organized against Christ and the Supernatural Society of the Church, and who are waging a relentless war against His Universal Kingship and the rights of God in the lives of all men and in the laws and affairs of nations.
What You Can Do
While inviting everyone who reads this to familiarize yourselves with the thoughts of Fr. Fahey, we beg you also to join us in “Project Awaken.” This effort consists firstly in getting as many people as possible to read Fr. Fahey’s books, and secondly, in distributing his books to those priests of your acquaintance whom you judge would be open to his message. If you would assist us, we ask you to purchase at least two copies of The Mystical Body of Christ in the Modern World (paperback, $12.95). Read one yourself, and then prevail upon a serious-minded priest to read the second. It goes without saying that if you know more than one such priest and can afford more books, all the better. If, however, you know the name and address of a priest (or bishop) who might be persuaded to read the book, but cannot afford to buy him a copy, please give this information to us. Our project consists of raising funds for books for this very purpose. We intend to gather the names of priests who apparently mean well, but are blind, and through “Project Awaken” to open their eyes. We will send them a book with an accompanying letter beseeching them to give Fr. Fahey their fullest attention. Please help us in this effort to further the restoration of Holy Mother Church in whatever way you can, be it financially, or through distributing the works of this great priest, or by giving us the names of clergy whom we can reach with it. Thank you for your support!
